Deer Lakes High school welcomes Ms. Davis
Please join us in welcoming Heather Davis to the Deer Lakes School District!
Miss Davis will be the High School's new Physical Education teacher. She has been an educator for three years.
"I am excited to join Deer Lakes for the small community/family aspect it brings," Miss Davis said. "It really does remind me of when I was in high school, and that is nostalgic for me. I am excited for all the new opportunities that will arise here at Deer Lakes. I am also going to be coaching, so that helps me meet students that I may not have in class."
Miss Davis graduated from Ford City High School and attended Waynesburg University for her Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training. She then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania for her Master's of Science in Health and Physical Education.
Miss Davis was inspired to be a Physical Education teacher by a combination of her love for athletics, coaching and watching her mom teach.
"I used to help set up her classroom every year, and that sort of led me in the direction of teaching," Miss Davis said. "Now that I am into education, I find that there are so many routes to look at when you talk about health and physical education, and I have gained a new appreciation for wellness and mental health during this process. I teach because I love being able to help others out."
