Deer Lakes High School welcomes Mr. Nichol
Please join us in welcoming Matt Nichol to the Deer Lakes School District!
“I am excited to join Deer Lakes because of the unity of the community,” Mr. Nichol said. “I love the fact that Deer Lakes is very close knit. It is a great feeling to know that the community is here to support each other. I guess I also love basketball and know there is a fantastic basketball program!”
Mr. Nichol will be the High School’s new Social Studies teacher after serving in the same role for several months in the spring of 2024 as a long-term substitute.
“I teach Social Studies because I love looking at the past and people that came before us to compare it with today and how far we have come,” he said. “I also enjoy conspiracy theories and there are quite a few in the world of Social Studies and History.”
Mr. Nichol attended Butler High School and Slippery Rock University. He was inspired by his middle school English teacher to be an educator.
“I love changing lives for the better,” he said. “Even if it is just one small detail. As a teacher, I have unlimited opportunities to do just that!”
