Please join us in welcoming Makenzie Waddell to the Deer Lakes School District!

Mrs. Waddell will be the High School's new English teacher.

"Everyone at Deer Lakes has been so welcoming and eager to help me transition into this new role," she said. "I am excited to meet the students and really get involved in the school community."

Mrs. Waddell attended Avonworth High School and La Roche University. She has taught for four years, most recently at North Allegheny Senior High School where she taught 11th and 12th grade English.

"I teach English, and I absolutely love it as someone who cannot get enough of reading," she said. "I firmly believe there is a book out there for everyone, and I enjoy helping students find literature that speaks to them."

She was inspired to become a teacher by her own high school teachers.

"They showed up every day excited to teach, and they were passionate about their subject matter and helping students," Mrs. Waddell said.
